BACKSTAGE FACTS

In this section I will reveal some hidden facts about the publishing process of Jane

To begin with, I’ll tell you briefly how we designed the cover.

Jane’s Spanish edition was published in April 2018; however, I had finished writing it more than a year prior. After writing the book I wanted to send it to a literary contest (actually I did and, believe it or not, I was one of the 400 writers who didn’t win XD) so I needed a provisional cover for the novel. A friend of mine had the kindness of designing the following one:

Months later, when we began the publishing process, the moment arrived for the final cover. This has been my eighth published novel; therefore, I had gone through this process previously and I knew that it can be a time consuming and frustrating experience. Sometimes it looks like we will never find what we are looking for, but, in the end we always find it. Although one thing is for sure, finding it involves lots of drafts:

And I few more that I can’t find at the moment.

The main problem was that I really didn’t know what I wanted, so I used to send to the designer pictures, drawings and everything I found that could help. Do you want to see what I sent him? 😉

I KNOW, SO MANY THINGS AND SO DIFFERENT! well… THIS WAS just THE BEGINNING, I SENT HIM EVEN MORE XD

We were quite at a loss, so I asked for help through my social media and, a few days later, I received a beautiful painting by the artist Ester Vall Balsells:

We were completely delighted with it and we agreed to use it for the cover. Finally, our path came to an end, and the designer created the cover you already know 🙂

As you can see, it was not easy but I think it was worth it 🙂
